Session 1

A chance encounter
Section titled “A chance encounter”After a long and treacherous journey across the Arrad Sea, our explorers all made their way to Arradsia, arriving in the harbour city of Carvenport. Starving and thirsty they decide to make their first stop in a tavern, the closest to the docks is The Laughing Weasel. A small but busy tavern, as faith would have there was only one free table left. This is where the party met each other.
The party consisting of:
| Name | Race | Class |
|---|---|---|
| Cassian Vale | Wood-Elf | Sorcerer |
| Felix Lievens | Human | Monk |
| Paeris Caiven | Wood-Elf | Druid |
| Plaman Stronkman | Goliath | Paladin |
| Sarick | Drow-Elf | Rogue |
The party orders some drinks and foods. After quickly finishing his drink, Plaman wants another and eyes up Sarick’s drink, he manages to quickly steal it. Sarick them bumps the table, hoping to jump the cup and take it back, but he fumbles and instead knocks Cassian’s drink over.
The party is joined by Borric, who manages a charter house for the adventuring guild. He speaks of children going missing in the city, only recently one of them has gone missing in The Blinds. He asks the party to help and look for the missing child. He informs the party that nobody else will be looking for the child, since he went missing in the blinds. He asks the group again to help, they finally agree and say they can have a look and see what they can find out. Borric is relieved and informs the party where they can find Lisa Morne, the mother of the child.
Finishing their meal and paying Stos, the barkeep, the party gets up. Cassian asks if Plaman can carry him, since his bones and joints are aching and Plaman looks plenty strong. Plaman refuses, but he does offer to let Cassian sit on his shield as he pulls the shield, like a sled. Cassian eagerly gets on, as the parry makes their way to the charter house, walking along the docks.
There is a large crowd gathered on one of the piers, as the party walks closers there is a lot of commotion and yelling. Upon getting close, Plaman walks through the crowd to get a better idea of what is happening. He sees three people at the end of the pier, one of them holding a cage, with an animal inside. The other two holding off the crowd with a knife. Cassian informs the party that these are the Thorn Brothers, known petty criminals and that they probably stole the cage and whatever animal is inside.
Free as a bird
Section titled “Free as a bird”As the rear brother keeps waiving and flailing the cage around, the animal cries out and the party manages to catch a glimpse of what is inside; a young bird, similar to a seagull, with four wings and three eyes. Plaman, who is not a fan of animal cruelty, walks through the crowd to confront the brothers, telling them to leave the animal alone.
As Plaman talks to the brothers, Cassian, still on the shield, leans over, peaking from behind the massive goliath and throws an ice knife at the brother standing in front of Plaman. The shard of ice hits the brother square in the chest, as he falls over backwards, blood spatters out everywhere, immediately freezing and hitting the other brothers as well as Plaman.
In retaliation the brother not holding the chest charges at Plaman, taking a wild swing at him. Plaman takes a single step to the side, making the brother miss completely. Felix runs through the crowd, slides across the pier and kicks out the legs from under the last brother, still holding the chest. As the brother feels his legs being kicked out from under him, he drops the cage, takes out a knife and manages to stab Felix in his side. Felix continues sliding across the pier as the blood stains his shirt. The brother tries getting back up and reaches for the cage, but suddenly the pain and realization of his broken legs sets in and he stumbles sideways and falls into the harbour, splashing around as he barely manages to keeps his head above the water. Paeris uses “Animal Friendship” to calm the bird down.
Sarick runs up, in an Assasin’s Creed style, elegantly walking across the edge of the pier, jumping between the bollards, making his way over to the downed brother, ice still sticking out from his chest. As soon as he makes his way over there, he starts checking the pockets, finding 4 silver pieces and a seemingly normal silver ring, putting them in his own pockets.
Plaman looks down in disgust and the brother who took a swing at him, he clenches his fist to take a swing at him in return. But his anger over takes him and instead of a normal swing; his eyes turn white and his fist starts to glow with a mysterious energy. His swing turns into a searing smite, exploding the brothers head on contact, sending blood, pieces of bone and brain everywhere as the body flies into the harbour.
Cassian throws a rope to the drowning brother, who immediately starts pulling on the rope, trying to get out of the water. Cassian unable to muster the strength to pull the brother in, is getting pulled towards the edge of the pier, but he manages to tie the rope to one of the bollards, with a perfect knot.
Paeris uses “Cure Wounds” on Felix to heal his stabbing wound. Felix gets up and picks up the cage. After some discussion the party decides to let the bird go free, opening the cage and watching it fly away.
The commotions and fighting have drawn an even bigger crowd, including some guards, who make their way through the crowd, to see what is happening. Sarick speaks up, trying to explain the situation, but as the guards look over his shoulder and see the absolute carnage behind him, they have a hard time believing him. Cassian jumps in and explains to the guards that this was just a tutorial combat for the newly formed party, which put the guards at ease, allowing the party to go free.
And like that the party continues on their way to the blinds.
